Ending  Violence  Against  Women  I believe  that it is up every countries government to stick up for the women in their country however, that isn't the case for most. In many countries such as Mexico or Middle East Regions do not  care to get involve in domestic violence cases rather they tend to over look it and blame the Women. Reading the facts that the United Nations laid out were shocking, it's very sad to see that "... 87,000 women who were intentionally killed in 2017 globally, more than half (50,000- 58 per cent) were killed by intimate partners or family members, meaning that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner." (United Nations 2019). It's heartbreaking that many women live life in  fear, wondering if they've breathed their last breath. After...

Mental Illness  Mental Illness is very common as the CDC states in one of their questions they asked on their quiz. Although when we think of Mental Illness we think of people who are violent and crazy however, that is not the case. When taking the quiz I felt I knew majority of the questions that were asked but that being said what I didn't know was half of mental illness occur before a. person turns 14 years old, and serious mental illness cost America 193.2 billion in lost earnings per year. I never knew that many people around me could be suffering from mental illness and It wasn't until recently that I learned that mental illness is becoming more and more of a problem.  Once I got into high school I noticed the many emotions that people were dealing with and the hardships many people struggled with. It was my sophomore year in high school when I noticed cuts on my friends wrist, I never said anyth...

THE TALK It is one week before Mallorys first day of high school at a new school in Texas with new people in a different environment than before. Mallorys mom Emma decides that it was time to have "the talk" with her 14 year old daughter before her first day of high school. It is every moms worse nightmare for her daughter to come home saying she has an STI or that she might be pregnant so Emma decide it was the best for both of them. If I was Emma I would take Mallory into her room and decide to have an open conversation with her about anything she wanted to know, talk more about what she does know, and what she should know so that in any situation she is prepared. I would also make sure to be honest with Mallory so that she can feel comfortable to ask me questions without feeling like she is talking to her mom which means Emma needs to be prepared for anything Mallory might say. Mallory mentions what to do in the case she felt as if she had an STI in which case Emma said ...

Welcome to my first blog! Let's dig in to todays topic! Growing up and being able to see things in a different perspective than how your parents made you view certain aspects in society is very scary. What I mean when I say scary, is that a lot of things you notice yourself are very surreal such as new articles about domestic violence reoccurring often or random social media post of girls warning other girls to be careful with their surrounding. It really is the little things that can have a difference in your life both good and bad. I can’t speak for every women in the United States but I do know for myself that many other women in developing countries have many worse hardships than I do.  An interesting fact that caught my attention when reading through the status of women's health powerpoint was how, 13.3 million (60%) women in Sub-Saharan africa have HIV which is an alarming rate. Although these statistics are high its amazing how 77 percent of  women who are preg...
